Right Now I am......

Enjoying the simple pleasures of fresh flowers, sangrias after a hot summer day and the taste of fresh tofu….(while also enjoying Jason’s predictable comment when I place a hunk of tofu on the cutting board….”huni where is the meat?!”)

Feeling the hardwood hickory under my feet as I move around my kitchen….always so grateful for this home.

Remembering all the beauty that was incorporated around and in our wedding….

Thinking…..this would be a simple (hard) life….trying to remember to be grateful for some modern day convinces, but also to live with the values of the past….home grown food and homemade gifts
(Love that Jason and I are both working toward this……and that is something to be very happy about!)

Loving all my flowers

And front porch evenings….

Grateful that Charlie still has play-dates with his sister….

Watching how little touches are bringing this house into a home….

Excited about this beautiful summer quilt / beach blanket / picnic blanket that I am creating!

Right now I am looking at all the good in my life and feeling extremely grateful for all that we have made together.

The end is Near :)

The process of building our home, has almost come to an end.  At least finished enough for us to move in :)  This has been such a wonderful learning experience and i'm so grateful that we were able to do this.  There has been plenty of trying times, but also plenty of laughs and moments that make it all worth while.  This life is about savoring the moments, and thats what i do.  During these crazy times before we get married and move in.....we have moments, thats for certain :)  Here are some of my favorite pictures from recently....

Some Weekend findings

We spent our weekend, down at the cabin, as our weekends have gone since the end of October....

This is such an exciting time for us, as we are building our home...
To be together as a family of two plus a pup....
To grow into with children and fill to the seams with love for our family....
And to see ourselves down the road back to a family of two....

~Yes, this is a very exciting and wonderful time~

As i sit and walk around our cabin (all weekend :)) i am always dreaming of where i will set up our furniture, and how it will feel in each space.  Then sometimes i am thinking that i am completely overwhelmed with the fact that we built this home, and it is totally ours!  I feel like the luckiest woman in the world.

Sunday afternoon, i found myself sitting in front of our new wood stove, on the bench (actually a pile of boards, yet to find their place), staring into the fire that has become such a beautiful focal point of our home....I turned around to see where Jason was, and what he was doing, and what caught my eye, but a beautiful image on the column that is in the center of our living room.

A natural heart, inscribed in the wood....

This has got to be one of the coolest things i have ever seen!!!!

Yep!  so for the next 50+ years, we will have a homemade heart, in the center of our home....

End of the day Sunday, looking into the living room from the upstairs front bedroom.....dreaming of children, furniture and window treatments :)

My beautiful ring, that i still find myself staring at quite often...

This interesting picture is about 10pm on Friday night...we are somewhere in the woods between northfield and Belmont, Jas had to get out to cut a limb off a tree so we could get through with the groomer....wow i love this man....

A few moments i want to savor and remember:

~snuggling up on Friday night in front of our wood stove, with charlie at our feet....it was so peaceful, neither one of us saying a word, just staring into the fire and feeling totally grounded at that moment~

~listening to Jason and Jared tell stories for 4+ hours in the groomer on Friday night, laughing like crazy, while Jared blasted country music and Jason made up his own lyrics, to try to drown out the country, while i laugh in the backseat as this reminds me of my brothers doing the same thing not so long ago~

~Reading the newspaper in front of our wood stove to warm up after bringing in loads of firewood and feeling so grateful for our free warmth~

~Laughing as Jason wakes me up on the dreaded Monday morning with a tackle and snuggle hug, savoring the last few minutes of the weekend, and of course charlie finds his way into the snuggle time~

~Being so happy with everything in my life, and looking so forward to marring my best friend in four short months~

How wonderful this life is.

What I'm grateful for now.......

The quiet assurance that comes with having a home......soon....very soon :)

My new found love in the stillness of knitting.....

Realizing more and more everyday how much i am turning into my mother....and how much i smile and love that i am....
The soft blanket of snow that covers our front lawn.

Our Log Home.

The beautiful winter scenery that hangs off our front porch.

The wonderfully gorgeous wires, cans and pvc pipes that are invading our house!

Our Love.

His warm hand in the evenings, which always fits perfectly into mine...

My fabulous carhart overalls :)

The extra cash that comes from plowing snow.....and seeing his love and excitement when he has to go out during these blizzard days & nights...

Our shared joy in farming and the land that surrounds our daily lives together...

Their WONDERFUL sleeping positions, relaxing after a long day...

The joy this pup brings to Jas and I everyday....

How i have learned to appreciate everything simple that life has to offer...and how happy that makes me everyday :)

Yes those are a few reasons why i am grateful right now.....I think i have a lot to be grateful for :)
