I tip-toe out into the bright morning light flooding my kitchen. My eyes adjusting to the light as i turn on the coffee maker and find my daily choice. I let charlie out and realize the weather shifted from a thick humidity to a nice cool, breathable air. I begin to open up the windows and turn off the air conditioners, letting the fresh moist air fill the house.
Today was a day that i took off of work (my day job) and stayed home with my munchkin.
As warm, rich and delicious coffee brews, i sneak back in my bedroom to make sure Liam is still sleeping. He's not, he's wide awake and smiling. My favorite way to start the day.
After a quick diaper change and some morning sun photos, we head upstairs to work.
The room begins tidy and neat. By the end of the day the toys fill the space. Liam crawls and pulls up and screeches and drools and talks throughout the day. He's so much fun.
Photos are edited, emails are returned. Smiles are exchanged. We take a break and head back downstairs to get some breakfast.
Cereal & fruit to begin. A bagel with cream cheese is shared. Fresh raspberries split three ways. Charlie loves having his brother to share meals with.
After a full wipe down we grab a bottle and head to the bedroom to pump another bottle.
Nap time begins while i look over recipes for next week.
Short nap - wide awake and back to the loft to explore and play.
Charlie's naps are still consistent and getting longer the older he gets. Sad face.
After a good amount of work done, and a baby finally asleep, I head back down to the kitchen to prep a salad to bring to a BBQ at a friends house later. Broccoli bacon salad. I bought some broccoli and picked a head from our garden. A nice little green worm friend was still attached. Fresh pork from the farm.
Liam's awake and lunch is requested (demanded) as i work. Turkey meatball quesadilla for us to share. Tomato sauce for dipping. The boy loves anything tomato based.
Two minutes later.
He likes to explore his foods. I wish he could tell me how it feels in his eyes and even the back of his head. But seriously, he is such a good eater, being that he is still gumming everything. I love his zest for life.
Clothes are stripped and into the tub he goes.
Downstairs for a little PBS kids fix. Yes, i let my 9 month old watch tv. Yes, he loves it and i love the break. Taking back everything i used to say before i had a kid about screen time. All in moderation my friend, all in moderation.
After a good poop and blowout, we change into some new clothes and play in the soft afternoon light pouring into his crib.
Back to the loft to play / work and edit. Nap time approaches.
After he wakes up, his Nanny (grandma) stops over for a quick visit. I greet her with a wild baby, hop in the shower, pump a bottle and get the salad finished for the BBQ. I pack up our multiple bags for our dinner away and get ready to head out the door as soon as Jason gets home. An hour with Nanny, gives me so much time to get stuff done. I love it and her!
We arrive at our friend's house and begin munching on delicious appetizers and i enjoy a mixed drink of watermelon/vodka/triple sec/mint and lime. More friends arrive, the kids all play, Liam eats and eats and loves watching the bigger kids play. A night out to enjoy with friends is always refreshing.
We stay out way past our bedtimes, arrive home, transfer a tired sleeping baby into the pack & play in our room (successfully), i pump the last bottle of the night and we tuck into bed. The moon is almost full as i hear the heavy breathing of my three favorite guys, all cozy in our little room together. I read a few pages of my book on my kindle and doze off.
All is right in the world.
Sounds like a fantastic day. Love the baby book; it's the same one I've used for both kids and so perfect for jotting down the stuff you want to remember, while not feeling guilty about filling in all these little lines!
ReplyDeleteYes, i love it too! It's funny, some months i'll write all the statistic type facts, and others i'll just pour my heart out. Love it!
