The Seasons of New England :: September Week One

And so it begins.  Autumn is peaking out, all around us.  The air is crisp and apples are picked.

In an effort to take photographs daily, i decided to begin a new routine for myself.  Daily pictures, outside.
Not only to help encourage my camera use, but also to document our beautifully, diverse seasons here in New England.

These pictures will come in a wide variety of aspects, with the only stipulation of shooting outdoors.

I will be posting them weekly, instead of daily, as to not clog up my blog.  A brief narritive of the day will follow under each photo.

So far, this has made me get outside, after work (or before), relax and absorb our beautiful landscape.

Begining on September 5th, 2012 : :  Enjoy.

9/5:  The sun has begun its decent far earlier than the weeks before.  Summer is about to close out to the rich colors of Autumn.   Yet this light, its beautiful.

9/6:  This morning was damp and Rainy.  A fine day to stay at home and work on my quilt.

9/7:  The tires finally came.  Hubs is one happy camper.

9/8:  We traveled accross state lines with a red wagon that has rust and loose side boards.  Yet it carried my brothers and i, up and down that dirt road.  And so it stays, and gets refurbished and ready for our future.

9/9:  These seeds i put in the ground much too late to have the possiblity of blooming.  They bloomed, three days before the first frost.  Bliss.

9/10:  My compainon on these quiet weekday nights.

{ By the Sea }

{ What I loved about my weekend on the Cape }

·         Watching my youngest niece explore this unfamiliar environment, and learning to trust the sand beneath her toes, and the water splashing on her face.
·         Seeing my mother, now a grandmother teaching her oldest granddaughter to ride her new bike.  The cycle continues.
·         Dancing in the misty rain with the kids, while feeling like a kid myself.
·         Watching my dad play non-stop with his grandson.  His love overflowing throughout each child.
·         Smiling as she devours Oreo’s, then grabs my hand to head out for a bike ride around the block.
·         Realizing that life flows on, and goes by so quickly.  Families grow and expand and the love continues.
·         Looking at my sister-in-law, loving those new lives inside her, and feeling so grateful she is my brother’s companion.
·         Learning patience and overwhelming love from my brother and his gentle approach to every situation with his children.
·         Feeling so grateful to be a part of their lives.
·         Watching him soak up every single second of his life.  Through games and laughs and explorations.  He is thoughtful and so sweet, that nephew of mine.
·         Being near the sea and relaxing completely.

Life is short, and sometimes stressful, but oh so wonderful.

Snowshoes & my pup

A few days before i began work for the 2012 season, Charlie and I ventured into the woods behind our home.  It always amazing to me how still, yet vibrant the woods are.  The quiet amid the cacaos of the natural world.  We would scamper over fallen trees and up slopes...then we would stop.  His ears would perk up, and we would listen.  There is so much beauty to be heard in the woods.  These woods, snow covered and crisp.  They took us, if just for a brief time, to another world.

A wonderfully calm and beautiful world.

As the sun was beginning it's decent, we headed home.

Look for beauty, its all around you.
